Functional Medicine FAQs

Functional Medicine group visits are available to all patients of AFP and are billed to your insurance. We currently offer a series of group visits called “Functional Medicine Fundamentals” which addresses the basic principles of the Functional Medicine approach. We will also soon be adding more specified groups such as the “Prevent Alzheimer’s” group visit series. A group medical visit is usually 60-90 minutes, and seeks to provide more in-depth education than shorter, individual appointments can accommodate. During a group visit you are welcome to share personal medical details about yourself, but it is never required. Everyone in the group is bound by HIPAA laws, and cannot share any of your personal medical information outside the group.

Functional Medicine services are only available to patients of Atkinson Family Practice. This is because we believe continuity of care between the Primary Care Provider and the Functional Medicine Provider is very important.

Jessica works closely with her colleagues to help determine which mode of treatment will be most effective for the patients. If you are not a patient of AFP, but would like to access our Functional Medicine services, please consider coming to our office for your primary care needs.
